The Village of Islington BIA established in 1986 won the 2012 Toronto Association of Business Improvement Areas (TABIA) award for outstanding murals.

Our area is a special, tree-lined community with colourful plantings, wide brick-bordered sidewalks, historic buildings, and 25 beautiful murals. The historic village located on Dundas Street West between Montgomery Road and Kipling Avenue is an up and coming neighbourhood that is host to over 200 businesses open to serve you.

Here you'll find a wide variety of retail shops, restaurants and professional services. Come experience our 35 restaurants and eateries serving food that rivals top cuisine found anywhere in the GTA. People come to see our 5 block ARTWALK, stay to enjoy the local ambience and return with their friends and family.

The area is fast becoming a celebrated treasure of Toronto's west end as the murals attract great interest in their depiction of the life and times in the old village of the 1800s and early 1900s. Some of the themed murals include: War of 1812, Hurricane Hazel, the Guelph Radial Line, Gordon's Dairy, the Volunteer Fire Brigade, an old Lancaster bomber incident, and the Pub with no Beer. And, another new mural will be unveiled in 2013.

We offer guided mural tours at Doors Open Toronto and throughout the year upon request. You can also take a self-guided iTour of the area.
